Student Midwife, Doula, and Herbalist

Greetings! I'm Courtnee, the driving force behind Maiden Love Birth and Botanicals.

My venture into the realm of birthwork commenced shortly after the birth of my daughter in 2014. Engaging in conversations with new parents highlighted a noticeable gap in the support and care birth givers often receive during this transformative period of physical and spiritual growth. Fueled by this realization, I became deeply committed to advocating for birth givers and their unique childbearing experiences.

I firmly believe that every birthing person deserves kind, informed, and unbiased support as they navigate the multitude of options surrounding their care throughout the journey of growth, birth, and nurturing their baby.

My educational background is diverse and impacts how I move through life and serve clients. . I received my Bachelor's in Anthropology from San Diego State in 2010, followed by doula and lactation training through Birth Arts International in 2016. My foundation in herbal medicine comes from years of self-study as well as Aviva Romm's Botanical Medicine for Women intensive course.  Expanding my support skills, I pursued advanced training in optimal fetal positioning and homeopathy for the childbearing year with Midwife Juli Tilsner, learned how to incorporate the rebozo from Gena Kirby, and participated in two Spinning Babies™ workshops. These gentle and effective modalities enhance the comfort of pregnancies and birth experiences, regardless of the choice for a medicated or unmedicated birth.

In the fall of 2020, after supporting over 100 families as a doula, I took the next step in my journey by entering Midwifery School and apprenticing at Welcome Home Midwifery Services—a non-profit birth center and homebirth practice in South Sacramento. My midwifery apprenticeship concluded at the end of 2022, and I am currently fulfilling academic requirements before sitting for boards and applying for licensure later this year.

Outside of birthwork, you'll find me exploring local trails with my family, relishing in too much chocolate, and keeping my hands occupied with either a good book or a pair of knitting needles.

I feel truly honored to be part of your journey and to witness the beautiful blossoming of motherhood. Thank you for trusting me with this significant chapter in your life.

With the deepest gratitude,

Courtnee
